Hundreds of thousands of children live in poverty in India. Access to basic needs is often restricted, and child labour is unfortunately very common. Penguins stepped in to bring a spark of music and theatre to children from the slums, streets, and in orphanages.

Dates: August 2016 & August 2017

Where? Mumbai, Goa, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Tiruvannamalai, and Chennai

What to do? Both times, our Penguins performed many shows and workshops, in the Indian tropical heat, to over 5000 children! We partnered with many extraordinary organisations who work with children from the streets and from the slums. We also got to perform and share music with children in many rural orphanages – an experience such as ours is completely unknown to the children. We performed our last show to the special needs school in Chennai, one of India’s only high schools where special needs children are taught, humanely and creatively, until the age of 18.
